Despite the rise of industrial manufacturing, William Morris believed in craftsmanship. Along with other leading painters, Morris founded what would become Morris & Company, producing decorative textiles and furnishings in a way that intimately linked artist and craftsman and returned to less mechanized methods of production. His works are now considered exemplary of the Arts and Crafts movement and important to the development of Art Nouveau. The four Morris designs embossed on these notecards were part of larger patterns printed or woven on cotton, silk, or linen by Morris & Company. Please note: the images are not printed with ink. The shapes of the illustrations are embossed on high-quality recycled paper. Contains three each of the following notecards: Kennet, c. 1883 Rose and Thistle, c. 1881 Tulip and Willow, c. 1873 Windrush, c. 1883

• 12 assorted cream-colored embossed notecards (3 each of 4 designs) with envelopes in a decorative box
• Produced using high-quality uncoated recycled paper
• Soft white envelopes
