Chestertown, MD

Yuh Okano is a textile artist whose pieces are inspired by a deep fascination with the natural world. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art and is in its permanent collection. Yuh's pieces are invitingly tactile. They employ a range of color and texture that strives to be as subtle and finely detailed as the organic forms her works suggest. Their soft feel and gently flowing shapes evoke a sense of connection with plant life, flowers, and ocean creatures.

This scarf organically drapes down like the wind tangled in waves. Hand-dipped in a two-tone dye, it features an intricate, semi-transparent stripe pattern produced using a devoré technique. The richness of the colors–the dark of midnight contrasts with the golden color of sunrise–gives this scarf a distinctive elegance that is calm and gentle, like a harmonious moment of water flowing in a river. This is a classic design that is easy to wear.
