Wallace Sewell
Wallace Sewell is a UK-Based, British design studio, established by Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell.
Founded in 1992 by Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell, who studied together at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art, Wallace Sewell is a pioneering British textile design studio known for its bold aesthetic, meticulous craftsmanship, and strong commitment to local manufacturing.
For over three decades, Harriet and Emma have worked side by side, designing with a distinctive and ever-evolving creative spark. Their partnership is rooted in a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of textile design, merging traditional craft with modern production methods to create pieces that are both timeless and contemporary.
Wallace Sewell is renowned for its innovative use of color, structure, and yarn, expressed through striking geometric compositions. Often inspired by the world of art and painting, their fabrics feature bold, asymmetric blocks and playful stripes in varying scales. Each piece a unique interplay of texture and tone that brings together a multitude of design elements into one harmonious whole.
Every idea begins on handlooms at the studio’s locations in London and Dorset, where sampling and design development take place. These pieces are then brought to life on an industrial scale at a family-run mill in Lancashire, combining heritage techniques with modern precision. With the entire production process taking place within a 200-mile radius, Wallace Sewell champions a sustainable, transparent, and truly British approach to textile manufacturing.
Wallace Sewell has a strong retail presence and stockists in 25 countries. Their distinctive signature collection of throws, cushions, scarves, and rugs are a testament to their creative vision and enduring commitment to quality.
Wallace Sewell continues to redefine the art of textile design, fusing innovation with practicality, creativity with sustainability, and modern flair with a deep respect for British textile heritage.
