Van Gogh Sunflower #2 Beaded Brooch
Regular price $ 72.00 Sale price $ 36.00The sunflower paintings had a special significance for Van Gogh. He felt they communicated ‘gratitude’. Van Gogh’s paintings of Sunflowers are among his most famous. He did them in Arles, in the south of France, in 1888 and 1889. Vincent painted a total of five large canvases with sunflowers in a vase, with three shades of yellow ‘and nothing else’. In this way, he demonstrated that it was possible to create an image with numerous variations of a single color, without any loss of eloquence.
These bead and needle art pieces are fully handmade in a small Calcutta workshop, where master embroidery artists take pride in their work, making fabulous pieces of work. Their skills often go from father to son, and by working with them I want to support and celebrate this time-consuming process of hand embroidery and its heritage. This contemporary interpretation of the most beautiful pieces of art in the world, gives you a souvenir that in itself is a little work of art. Wear them as a brooch or pendant on a necklace, or use the little sticker to make a wall decoration from it; your own little treasure.
