Why does the dove represent peace? It probably stems from a series of Sumerian legends and poems about the mythological hero-king Gilgamesh in the 7th century BC. In one of these poems a dove and a raven are released to find land. Later in the Christian mythologies the dove appears in the Book of Genisis as a symbol and a tool of God. The dove plays a key role in the life of Noah. He releases a Dove during the great flood, she returns with a leaf in her mouth indicating that the flood waters had receded and she had found land.

'The Night Before Christmas' was written in 1822 by Clement C Moore for his children. It was the first record of reindeer pulling Santa’s slay. The poem is a mix of European legends, Norse mythology and aspects of the story of the Christian Saint Nicholas. Clement named the eight reindeer Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder and Blixen.
