Jen Lesea-Ames hand-creates richly textured jewelry that involves a metalsmithing process called fusing. 18K gold is hand-filed into dust, and is carefully spread over the argentium base. Then with a little magic, a little luck, intense concentration and careful torch control, the piece is heated just before it completely melts. It's at this point that the specs of gold fuse to the base into one piece. This creates a unique look but also provides superior durability and texture to the piece. The final steps involve traditional metalsmithing techniques of drilling, polishing, and adding a patina to get the desired finish.
"It's my hope that my jewelry will connect you to your happy place, wherever you may be."
