The Rainbow Flag Enamel Pin is inspired by The Rainbow Flag, designed by Gilbert Baker, which was first unfurled on June 25, 1978 at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day Parade. The most enduring symbol of the LGBTQ+ movement, the Rainbow Flag was acquired by MoMA for its collection in June 2015, on the same day that the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its historic decision to legalize same-sex marriage across the country.
