Semilla Vases
These vases are made of blown glass. To create these vessels, the base color is applied to the hot molten glass. Once the vase is shaped, powdered glass is sifted onto the hot piece. The powdered glass is melted only slightly, to leave a texture. Once the glass is cooled down, Scott engraves the patterns into the vessels using a diamond grinding wheel. Once the engraving is done, the pieces are sandblasted and treated with an oil rubbed finish to leave a nice matte sheen on the glass. The lids are made from woven copper, finished with a patina and occasionally adorned with a decorative glass bit.
