by Dan & Jill Burstein
New Hope, PA
Swirling colors and moments of unexpected texture make up the artistry of Dan & Jill Burstein's hand-blown glass vessels. Dan Burstein describes blown glass as a "totally visceral, immediate experience" that makes him feel completely alive and in the moment.
While Jill is the designer of the team, Dan experiments with creating diverse sculptural and functional forms out of glass using intricate murrini, an Italian term for colored patterns or images made in a class cane that are revealed when cut in cross sections. This technique allows him to explore surface dimensions and lends an organic feel to his pieces.
